Dubai: Updated Travel Guidelines

All travelers to Dubai, having Dubai residence visa are informed that it is a must to get approval for the return from the General Directorate of Residency and Foreign Affairs (GDRFA). If you are traveling from below mentioned countries then along with GDRFA approval, you are also supposed to check your eligibility for traveling to UAE on uaeentry.ica.gov.ae. The none eligible candidates will not be allowed to travel.

The countries are Afghanistan, Bangladesh, India, Iran, Pakistan, Philippines, Sri Lanka.

Procedure for GDRFA Approval

  • Travelers can apply for return approval while booking a flight or by certified submitting the application on the GDRFA official website beforehand.
  • You will have to submit your Resident File Number in the application. The number is present on the visa under File.
  • Your application status will be shown on GDRFA Website. For approved applications, the email will be sent with a   GDRFA reference number. In case the application is not processed immediately after request, you can recheck after four days.
  • The GDRFA Application Number is mandatory in the process of flight booking.
  • GDRFA approval is only for travelers without the Dubai residence visa will not be issued with the return approval by GDRFA. For residence visa holders from another emirate, ICA, or GDRFA approval to travel to Dubai is not required.

Important Information

  • All the passengers traveling to Dubai must have a negative result of the COVID-19 PCR test taken not more than 96 hours prior to departure for Dubai. The report must be in printed form as no digital certificate or and will be accepted. All the UAE residents, citizens, tourists, and connecting flight passengers are subject to this condition.
  • passengers with severe or moderate disability and children below 12 years of age are not subjected to the condition of the printed PCR test report.
  • Travelers from India, Bangladesh, and Pakistan are directed to get a PCR test certificate only from designated labs specified by the UAE Government. Travelers from other destinations can use any of their reliable labs.
  • It is possible that you are subjected to one more PCR test upon arrival in Dubai at the airport itself. If the test results to positive than you will be quarantined under the COVID-19 protocol of Dubai health authorities.
  • It is a must to download DXB App on your smartphone.
  • All the passengers are supposed to fill the health declaration form which is to be submitted at check-in. The form is available at check-in also.
  • For travelers with Dubai as the last destination, a quarantine undertaking form is supposed to be filled. The form will be provided onboard and will be submitted to the Dubai Health Authority staff on arrival.
