Enjoy the region’s most exciting mountain adventure activity. The Middle East’s first commercial Via Ferrata is now open for those seeking an adrenaline filled day on Jebel Jais, the UAE’s highest mountain.

What to expect

The Jebel Jais Via Ferrata involves a combination of walking, scrambling/climbing and zip lining around a purpose-built course. At all times you will be accompanied by qualified guides and protected by a system of steel cables and anchors. Prior to the experience, the guides will ensure you fully understand the operation of safety equipment and are properly fitted with harness and helmet.

What to wear / bring
  • You’ll be provided with all the safety equipment, a small backpack with water and extra space for your personal items.
  • You should wear typical athletic clothing. Synthetic materials are best because they don’t absorb sweat and become uncomfortable. Keep in mind that you will be moving over rock which can be sharp. Your clothes should be able to withstand the rough terrain.
  • Footwear is the most important. Please wear sturdy trainers or running shoes with good grip. Casual shoes like Vans or Converse are not acceptable and may result in postponement/cancellation of your experience.
  • Other items you should consider: Sunglasses, Sun Block and Camera. Bear in mind that dropping any items throughout this activity is likely to result in complete destruction. If you bring a camera/sunglass, we recommend it have a solid wrist strap or tether.
  • The Via Ferrata combines a 1km hiking/climbing
  • Route across the mountain with 410 meters of 3 ziplines:
    • Zip 1 – 50mlong.
    • Zip 2 – 60m long.
    • Zip 3 – 300m long.
  • 20 people per tour, 1 person at any 1 time in each zipline
  • Highest point 70m above the ledge below.
  • Duration: 2.5 hour
Meeting place
  • Your Jebel Jais experience starts with a 15km snaking drive to the top, a scenic experience for all drivers. Drive to the Jebel Jais Via Ferrata parking as indicated on your reservation confirmation. Upon arrival, you will see an Information Center, where you will be cordially welcome by our staff. Here we will confirm the details of your reservation, followed by the safety briefing before kitting you up with all the required safety equipment to start your adventure. Please print or download the instructions, map, and directions.
  • Please arrive 30 minutes prior to your Jebel Jais Via Ferrata`s starting time. If you are delayed and miss the shuttle, this will be considered a ‘’No Show’’ and you will forfeit 100% of your payment in line with the Terms and Conditions.
The Adventure Begins
  • The Via Ferrata. The essence of a modern via ferrata is a steel cable which runs along the route and is periodically (every 1 to 10 meters (3.3 to 32.8 ft) fixed to the rock. Using a via ferrata kit, climbers can secure themselves to the cable. The cable can also be used as aid to climbing, and additional climbing aids, such as iron rungs (stemples), pegs, plus all the required ziplining equipment for the 3 short ziplines in the route.

  • Participants under the age of 18 who meet the height and weight requirements can do the tour on their own but will need to be accompanied and present a signed waiver by a parent or legal guardian in order to do so
